Have Courage Encaustic Wax Panel - Paper Wings Productions

Hi! I'm sharing a 6x6 encaustic wax panel for Mixed Media Monday at Paper Wings Productions. I'm just beginning my adventures with encaustic wax, which is painting with hot wax. After playing, I definitely want to pick up some more colors of wax, so I'll be back next month with a more in-depth tutorial. Until then, I hope you enjoy this piece that I created! Stop by the Paper Wings Productions Blog for more details.

Deep Blue Sea Arch - Tando Creative

Hi! I'm sharing an Arabian-Style Arch that I created for the Transport theme this week on the Tando Creative Design Blog. I love being on the water and have fond memories of sailing on the weekends with my family as a child.

Anything that stay at sea too long becomes worn and weathered, so I went with a subdued color palette. The images and text on this arch are stamped with the Susan K. Weckesser Sail Away Stamp Set. I added some clouds and a bird to complete the scene.

Thanks for stopping by! You can now swing by the Tando Retail Store to pick up these pieces today!

Color Burst Flower Card - Susan K. Weckesser

Hi! I'm sharing a card that I created with the super fun Color Burst Patterned Paper and Autumn Grunge Stamp Set for Susan K. Weckesser today. The colored circles on the patterned paper were just begging to be cut out. I distressed the edges of each circle, punched a hole in the middle and then layered them to create flowers. The Autumn Grunge leaves have a create distressed quality that paired well with my blooms.

I cut the sentiment from the Live In Color Tags Patterned Paper and cut the small butterfly from the Beautiful Daydreams Patterned Paper. I finished the card with some doodles and colored twine.

One Fine Day - Quick Quotes

Hi! I'm sharing a layout that I created with the NEW Sheer Joy collection and some gorgeous Petaloo flowers that I had leftover from the Quick Quotes + Petaloo Blog Hop earlier this month for Quick Quotes today. If you missed the hop, it is definitely worth a visit to the Quick Quotes Blog to view the inspirational projects my fellow design team members created.

The Sheer Joy line has a fantastic color palette of bold colors that complemented this photo of my niece perfectly. I used a sentiment strip that I cut from the Sheer Joy 500 patterned paper to dress up the bottom half of the layout.

The Sheer Joy 100 patterned paper has a beautiful flourish design set on a decorative edged damask stripe. I chose to use this portion of the paper for the base of my design. I tucked sentiments that I cute from the Sheer Joy 500 patterned paper under my photos instead of journaling. I just love the vibrant pop of bright green!

The Petaloo Burlap Blossoms in Ivory, Teal and Pistachio and the Spring Berry Clusters added both dimension and texture to my holder. The petals and leaves are slightly distressed with red and brown, which saved me the time it would have taken to ink them myself. I just love flowers that look amazing straight out of the package!

Happy Arch - Tando Creative Challenge

Hi! I'm sharing an arch that I created for Tando Creative today. The theme on the Tando Challenge Blog this month is the quote "Life is too short to be anything but happy." Flowers in bloom and singing birds always make me happy.

I began this piece with one outer layer of an Arabian-Style Layered Arch Frame. I have never used this set as designed, but have rather used the pieces to create anywhere from 6-12 arches. I backed the frame with a bird print postcard that I printed the quote on. I embellished the frame with yellow paint, a pearl pen and some flowers.

Up for grabs this month are 4 pieces of Tando chipboard of your choice!  All you have to do is create a piece incorporating the monthly theme and link to the Tando Creative Challenge Blog. You don't have to use Tando products, but, if you do you'll be entered into the draw twice, doubling your chances to win. We don't have many rules, as rules spoil the fun, but in order to be in with a chance of winning we do ask that your project is entered for a maximum of 5 challenges, including Tando.

Magical Canvas - Craft-Dee BowZ

Hi! I'm sharing a canvas I created for my last post as an official Craft-Dee BowZ designer. I had a lot of fun with the Butterflies and Fairies theme and aqua color palette for this month. I created this 6x6 canvas for my scrap space.

I incorporated a lot of different textures on this piece. I love the mix of canvas, metal, organza and satin.

I used my Craft-Dee BowZ Tool to die this simple double-loop bow.

Adorable Baby Photo Clip - Love My Tapes

Hi! I'm sharing a photo clip I created for Love My Tapes today. I have several large patterned clips in my stash that I'm not too crazy about. I dressed one clip up with some fabric tape and can now see myself quickly going through the rest of my clips!

When I saw the Love My Tapes star-patterned fabric tape I immediately thought *baby.* I gathered a favorite baby photo of my niece, a handful of embellishments and a roll of fabric tape and created this photo clip in a snap.

Love My Tapes has a wonderful selection of patterned washi and fabric tapes so personalizing clips is fun and easy. I have my clip sitting on my desk, but could just as easily display this piece on a bookshelf or side table. I think this clip would also make a fantastic (and inexpensive) gift.

Teacher Gift Bag - Susan K. Weckesser

Hi! I'm sharing a teacher gift bag that I created for Susan K. Weckesser today. My daughters finish up their last couple days of school next week and are absolutely thrilled to start their Summer vacation. I created small gift bags for their teachers, who deserve a big thank you for all their hard work this year.

The colorful alphabet design on the Susan K. Weckesser Live, Love, Create Patterned Paper was absolutely perfect for this project! This gift bag measures 11cm x 8cm x 3 cm, which means I was able to create 2 gift bags with one sheet of 12x12 inch paper! (I used a gift bag template that I found here.) Susan K. Weckesser patterned papers are printed on a heavy cardstock weight paper, making them perfect for off-the-page projects. This gift bag is stronger (and cuter) than its store-bough counterparts.

I highlighted the colored letters on the patterned paper with a black marker for added interest. I then cut a tag from the Susan K. Weckesser Live in Color Tags Patterned Paper, added a stamped sentiment using the Insta-Cute Stamp Set and tied it to the handle with some colorful twine. I finished the bag with a flower and some tissue paper. This gift bag is the perfect size to hold a gift card.

Remember When Mini Album - Love My Tapes

Hi! I'm sharing a fun mini album that features some of my favorite vintage family photos for Love My Tapes today. I love to create mini albums using random photos, so each page is a surprise. I think that family members who flip through the pages of this album will say, 'I remember this' more than once. I added a lot of height to the front cover, layering stickers, rhinestones and a flower. For the inside pages, where height is restricted, I added strips of pattern and color with washi tape.

I used washi tape on the first two pages to hold down my photos. I also used washi tape to add a fun pattern to a piece of solid cardstock. Aren't the mustaches fantastic?!

I love to use washi tape just like a piece of patterned paper. I cut pieces of tape into small pennants and tucked them under my photos.

I chose several rolls of washi tape in colors that coordinated with the patterned papers I used for this album. Tape allowed me to add a lot of pattern and color to my album pages without the bulk.

Cold Country Stampbord Box - Nani ke Ola Guest Designer

Hi! I'm a guest blogger at Nani ke Ola today. I was first introduced to Nani ke Ola in May, when the Paper Wings Productions design team paired up with the Nanki ke Ola design team for a Friendship blog hop. Jenn generously supplied me with the gorgeous 7 Dots Studio Cold Country collection. As a way to thank her for her kindness, and to just have fun with this beautiful paper line, I've altered an Ampersand Stampbord Box and am thrilled to share my project with you today!

I colored the lid with shimmery watercolors and then stamped the top with some of my favorite Paper Wings Productions stamps from the Vintage Melange Cling Stamp Set. I let the ink dry overnight and then, since the surface of the lid is made of clay, went back and scratched into my designs, creating highlights and texture on the hair, flowers and decorative scroll border.

I covered the outside edges and the inside top and bottom lids with Cold Country patterned paper. I finished the inside edges of this box with turquoise embossing enamel. I stained the inner lip of the box for a rich, brown finish. Lastly, I sealed the outside of the box with a clear lacquer and then attached the hardware.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to visit the Nani ke Ola Store to check out all the new items. You can pick up Prima Chalk Edgers for just $1 until the end of the month!
